The School of Agriculture (SOA) organized an educational visit for the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, Semester III, to Rami Hortitech Private Ltd., Rajawala, Dehradun, on 10th September 2026. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure on orchard planning, production technology, and value-addition practices of Monk Fruit, an internationally recognized high-value fruit crop which is used as natural sweetener in formulations recommended for diabetic patients. Students also gained practical knowledge about the methodologies involved in conducting field trials of this crop.
Rami Hortitech Private Ltd. has a Hi-Tech Model Farm in Dehradun where the above fruit crop is growing using scientific and modern production practices. Monk Fruit is a rare fruit crop being cultivated in the Himalayan region also recognized for its promising economic potential internationally. During the visit, students actively interacted with Dr. Anuj Pal, Founder of Monk Fruit India, a sister concern of Rami Hortitech Pvt. Ltd in Dehradun. The students showed great enthusiasm and keen interest in learning about the crop and its production practices throughout the visit. They highly appreciated the practical information shared and gained valuable insights into Monk Fruit cultivation.
The faculty coordinators, Dr. Pranava Praanjal, Dr. Rajat Singh, Dr. Mandeep Rawat, and Dr. Sandeep Kumar, accompanied the students and provided valuable academic guidance and insights throughout the visit. The students expressed their sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University and the Director, School of Agriculture, for permitting and facilitating such a wonderful and enriching learning experience.
