The Psychological Counselling Cell, School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University, organized World Mental Health Week from 6 to 8 October 2026 to promote awareness, emotional expression, and positive mental-health practices among students. The programme helped reduce stigma and highlighted the importance of timely support. On 6 October, students expressed emotions through art, posters, and creative displays, using colours and visuals to show the value of healthy emotional expression. Prof. Kartikey, Director, School of Liberal Arts, visited the stalls and interacted with participants, who explained how art and creativity support well-being.
On 7 October, psychology students presented a Nukkad Natak near the University food court, encouraging students to recognize emotional difficulties, challenge stigma, and seek help when required, conveying the message of mental-health awareness in an accessible and impactful manner. Third-semester M.A. Clinical Psychology students also conducted a panel discussion on the responsible use of social media for mental health, covering mindful digital engagement, appropriate content consumption, and healthy online boundaries can support psychological well-being.
On 8 October, Dr. Pratibha Sharma, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, addressed students in a session titled “Navigating Psychological Support” on mental-health promotion, maintenance, and healthy coping practices, stressing the importance of seeking timely psychological support. An interactive quiz prepared by psychology students followed, and student-created reels carrying mental-health messages were displayed, encouraging students to engage with mental-health conversations.
Throughout all three days, psychology students conducted a voluntary psychological-assessment activity on personality, stress, and anxiety for participants from different departments, fostering self-awareness and interest in psychological well-being. The event reflected the School of Liberal Arts’ commitment to building a sensitive, supportive, and mentally healthy campus environment.
