The Department of Civil Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University, organized a Community Engagement and Environmental Welfare Outreach Programme at Kotra Santaur Village, Dehradun, on 1st October 2026 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, in association with the Nirmaan Club. The programme focused on promoting cleanliness, environmental awareness, and community participation. Kotra Santaur Village has been adopted under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), providing an opportunity for the department to engage with the local community through meaningful social and environmental activities.
Under the guidance of faculty coordinators Mr. Loknath Kumar and Mr. Girish Kumar, 40 B.Tech Civil Engineering students actively participated in a comprehensive cleanliness drive. Beyond the physical cleanup, the volunteers engaged directly with residents to discuss the importance of proper waste disposal, personal sanitation, and long-term environmental stewardship. This hands-on approach helped the community understand the vital role of collective effort in maintaining a healthy living space.
The outreach programme provided students with valuable practical exposure while reinforcing their commitment to social responsibility. Ultimately, the successful drive strengthened the ongoing relationship between Uttaranchal University and Kotra Santaur village, inspiring both the students and the local community to continue working together toward public welfare and environmental protection.
