The Globe Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organised a Tree Plantation Drive on 22 August 2025 near Rajawala Road, Selaqui. The event was part of the institution’s continuous efforts to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness among students about their responsibility towards nature.
The drive was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, and Dr Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM. The activity was organised in collaboration with the Jai Youth Wing, Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti, led by Shri Vinayak Sharma Swami. A total of 120 fruit-bearing and medicinal plants were planted to enrich the ecosystem and strengthen biodiversity. The initiative was aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, promoting health, sustainability, climate action, and biodiversity.
Students participated with great enthusiasm, planting a wide variety of saplings and pledging to nurture them. The plantation drive not only enhanced the greenery of the area but also provided an opportunity for students to understand the importance of ecological balance and their active role in environmental conservation.
The event was coordinated by Mr Rohit Dhiman, Head of the Globe Club, along with Globe Club members Ms Sanjana Kaithwal, Ms Chanchal, Mr Tarun, Ms Sakshi, Ms Shivani, Ms Richa, and Dr Aashish Dhiman. The event was compered by student volunteers.
