Swachhata Pakhwada 2024 was a resounding success at Uttaranchal University, held from September 1st to 15th, uniting students, faculty, and staff in a nationwide initiative to promote cleanliness and hygiene. Organised by the NSS unit, this year the theme was focused on cleanliness in workplaces and surrounding areas. Our efforts extended to the nearby village school in Kotra Santaur, where we conducted a cleanliness drive to foster hygiene awareness among students and the local community. The event started with a vibrant rally, spreading the message of cleanliness across the campus and surrounding areas. Students proudly held placards, and powerful slogans encouraged everyone to embrace the Swachh Bharat mission. The sense of unity and purpose was palpable as participants walked together, advocating for a cleaner, healthier environment. A massive clean-up drive followed, encompassing the university campus and the village school. Early in the morning, students and faculty gathered with brooms, gloves, masks, and garbage bags to begin the work. Led by one of our esteemed professors, the session underscored the importance of sanitation, proper waste disposal, and personal hygiene. Interactive activities, including quizzes and handwashing demonstrations, aimed to instill lifelong hygiene practices in the young students.
Swachhata Pakhwada 2024 has left a lasting impact on all who participated, reinforcing the values of cleanliness, sustainability, and collective action. As we move forward, let us pledge to continue this spirit of Swachhata in our daily lives, working together to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for all.
