The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC), of Uttaranchal University, organised an activity titled “My Vote, My Responsibility — Voter Awareness and Pledge” on 05 November 2026 at Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun. The activity was conducted to promote electoral awareness, democratic values, and responsible citizenship among students and faculty members.
The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the importance of voting in a democratic country. Participants were made aware that voting enables eligible citizens to participate in the democratic process and choose their representatives. The session emphasised that every vote matters and that citizens should exercise their voting rights responsibly, freely, and ethically.
The awareness session also focused on informed decision-making, the importance of voter registration, and the need to avoid fear, pressure, and discrimination while voting. The activity reflected the objectives of the University’s Electoral Literacy Club, including the promotion of ethical voting and active civic participation.
Following the awareness session, participants collectively took the Voter Awareness Pledge. They affirmed their commitment to upholding democratic values, making informed electoral choices, encouraging eligible citizens to register as voters, and promoting electoral awareness. The pledge concluded with the message “My Vote, My Responsibility” and “Jai Hind.”
The activity was organised under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM with Dr. Vasim Ahmad, Assistant Professor, UIM as Faculty Coordinator. Student volunteers Chirag Malhotra, BBA-3rd year and Harshvardhan, BBA supported the programme. The event reinforced the importance of electoral literacy and encouraged participants to recognise their role in strengthening democracy through responsible citizenship and ethical electoral participation. Overall, the initiative provided a meaningful opportunity for participants to reflect on their civic duties and the value of every vote.
