Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences organized a Substance-Free Living Awareness Programme for newly admitted students as part of the Deeksharambh-2026 Student Orientation cum Induction Program on August 18th, 2026. The activity aimed to create awareness about the importance of a healthy, responsible, and addiction-free lifestyle and help students understand the physical, emotional, academic, and social consequences of substance use. The programme commenced with an address by the Director, UCHS who warmly welcomed the new students and encouraged them to remain focused on their goals, adopt a substance-free lifestyle, resist negative peer pressure, and seek guidance from teachers, counsellors, family members, or friends whenever required.
Faculty members then addressed students on making informed choices during college life. They highlighted that the campus offers opportunities for learning, sports, cultural activities, creativity, leadership, and personal growth. As part of the programme, a short film screening on substance-free living was conducted. The video explained the risks of addiction, the dangers of peer pressure, warning signs of substance dependence, and the importance of seeking timely counselling and support. Additionally, an Anti-Drug Awareness Competition was organized to spread awareness against drug abuse. Students participated in a Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition and on the following themes: Nasha Mukti: Choose Life; Not Drugs, Digital Voice Against Drugs; Community, Not Chemicals. The posters and slogans carried powerful messages such as “Choose Health, Reject Addiction,” “Say No to Drugs,” and “Your Future Is Stronger Than Any Substance.” They highlighted the harmful impact of substance use on physical and mental health, concentration, relationships, and academic performance.
