Drug Addiction Awareness Programme – “Drug-Free Uttarakhand”

Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, organized a Drug Addiction Awareness Programme at Karma Welfare Society, Manduwala, on October 09, 2026, under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, Director, UIPS. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Abhishek Singh and Dr. Ashish Singh Chauhan, Assistant Professors, UIPS, with the active participation of B.Pharm students. The event was conducted under the theme “Say NO to Drugs – Choose Health, Choose Life.”

During the programme, Dr. Abhishek Singh delivered an awareness speech highlighting how drug addiction damages physical and mental health, affects family relationships, and causes emotional and financial difficulties. He encouraged participants to recognize the harmful consequences of substance abuse and seek appropriate support.

Dr. Ashish Singh Chauhan led a pledge-taking activity, motivating participants to commit to avoiding drug use in the future and adopting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. B.Pharm students participated in the initiative, reinforcing the role of pharmacy professionals in promoting public health and preventing substance abuse.

The programme reflected UIPS's commitment to community outreach and social responsibility, spreading awareness about drug addiction prevention and encouraging collective efforts towards a Drug-Free Uttarakhand.
