Uttaranchal Institute
of Technology (UIT), a constituent school of Uttaranchal University,
successfully organized Deeksharambh 2026, the Orientation Programme for
newly admitted B.Tech students of the 2026–27 batch, at the Swami Vivekanand
Auditorium. The programme marked the beginning of the students’ academic
journey and introduced them to the University’s academic environment, research
culture, student support services, and career opportunities.
The event commenced
with the floral welcome of dignitaries, followed by the ceremonial lighting of
the lamp, the University Kulgeet, and a devotional Ganesh Vandana presented by
students. Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Sumit Chaudhary, Director, UIT,
encouraged students to pursue excellence through dedication, discipline, and
innovation. Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice Chancellor, administered the
oath-taking ceremony and inspired students to uphold the values of integrity
and professionalism. Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, emphasized
innovation, critical thinking, and holistic development, while Ms. Ankita
Joshi, Vice President, motivated students to remain confident and adaptable in
their academic and professional pursuits.
A major highlight of
the programme was the release of the UIT Newsletter, showcasing the institute’s
academic achievements, research initiatives, and student accomplishments. The
event also featured vibrant cultural performances by UIT students, creating an
engaging and welcoming atmosphere for the freshers.
Students benefited
from insightful sessions by Mr. Deepak Pant, Manager, HCLTech and UIT Alumnus,
and Ms. Deepa Pandey, Software Engineer at Google, who shared valuable industry
insights, career guidance, and professional experiences with the students. A
thought-provoking Nukkad Natak on Anti-Ragging and Anti-Drugs further
reinforced the University’s commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and
responsible campus environment.
The programme concluded
with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Shah, Head, B.Tech First Year,
followed by the National Anthem.
