Say No to Ragging: School of Agriculture Observes Anti-Ragging Day at Uttaranchal University

School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August, 2026, marking the beginning of Anti-Ragging Week from August 12th to 18th, 2026. The programme aimed to create awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and to maintain a safe, friendly, respectful, and a scholarly environment in the campus. The programme began with a welcome note by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Director, SOA highlighted the importance of healthy interactions between senior and junior students and the shared responsibility of keeping the campus free from ragging. 


Dr. Jayanti Ballabh, Departmental Coordinator of Anti-Ragging Committee addressed the students and explained about the consequences of ragging and described the code of conducts and the rules of anti-ragging. The departmental members of Anti-Ragging Committee, Dr. Mansi Nautiyal, Dr. Neha Saini, Mr. Sunil Prakash and Dr. Sandeep Kumar, also interacted with the students and spoke about common myths related to ragging, judicial punishment and the disciplinary action that may be taken by the University.


Students were motivated for building self-confidence, innovative thoughts, and suggested for making good friends who can help during their studies. They were also encouraged not to engage in any form of ragging or become a part of it. Students were advised to immediately inform departmental Anti-Ragging Committee if they face or witness any such incident. The senior UG and PG students were also participated actively in the programme. 


Following the interactive session, newly admitted students were suggested for completing the mandatory online Anti-Ragging Declaration Forms. The programme concluded with pledge taking by all students that they will neither rag nor support any form of ragging and do not remain silent if it happens, reaffirm to departmental commitment and maintain a safe and ragging-free environment in the campus. The program was end with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Sunil Prakash, Assistant Professor, SOA.
