Planting Roots of Responsibility: Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam

Marking a green beginning to Deeksharambh 2026, the Prakriti Club of the Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS), Uttaranchal University, organized a plantation drive on 14 August 2026 under the inspiring initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” The drive was held at Shri Nityanand Swami Smriti Village, Telpura, Raja Wala Road, in association with Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Seva Samiti. The initiative beautifully blended the spirit of new beginnings with environmental responsibility, inspiring students to connect with nature and contribute towards building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.


During the plantation drive, 60 saplings were planted with enthusiastic participation from the organizers, faculty, and committee members. The programme was conducted under the guidance and support of Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma, Director-USCS and Prof. (Dr.) Sameer Dev SharmaHoD-USCS.

The event was supported by the JAI Youth Wing, with the active involvement of Mr. Vinayak Sharma Swami, President; Mr. Akash Singh Mehar, Secretary; Ms. Swati, Coordinator; Mr. Biswajeet, Executive Committee Member; and members Mr. Sameer and Ms. Barkha.


The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative encouraged students to begin their university journey with care and responsibility towards nature. Their enthusiastic participation in plantation fostered environmental awareness, community engagement, and social responsibility.


The plantation drive witnessed the active participation of Ms. Manisha Saini, Ms. Manisha Khanduja, Ms. Nisha Rana, Mr. Ravindra Kumar, and Mr. Aagman Kaparwan. The initiative added a meaningful dimension to Deeksharambh 2026, inspiring students to embrace environmental responsibility alongside academic growth.
