The sports club, Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM) enthusiastically celebrated Sports  Deeksharambh 2026, an inaugural sporting extravaganza designed to welcome the new batch of first-year students on 14 August 2026 and 17 August, 2026 And, provided them a vibrant platform to discover and showcase their sporting talent. The event was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, who highlighted the vital role of sports in fostering teamwork, discipline, fitness, leadership, and a balanced lifestyle. Dr. Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM, also graced the occasion with her support and encouragement.


The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 350+ students competing across six sporting disciplines—Carrom, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tug of War, Chess, and Arm Wrestling. The spirited participation reflected the students’ passion, competitive spirit, and commitment to sportsmanship.


In Arm WrestlingAyushi (BBA) and Aman Kumar (B.Com) emerged victorious. Samridhi and Simba (BBA) secured the top positions in Carrom. In BadmintonArun (MBA) and Samridhi (BBA) claimed victory in their respective categories. Avantika Chauhan and Nathanial (BBA) triumphed in Table Tennis, while Akash Bhatt (MBA) and Latika Negi (B.Com) emerged winners in chess. In Tug of War, BBA Section B boys secured the title, while the combined team of BBA ‘B’ and B.Com ‘A & B’ won the girls’ league.


The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri and Dr. Tilottama Singh, who conferred prizes upon the winners.


The successful execution of the event was made possible through the unstinting efforts of the Sports Club, under the stewardship of Mr. Hardev Singh, Head-Sports Club, UIM, with the able support of Mr. Rohit Dhyani, Faculty Coordinator, UIM, and dedicated student volunteers. The event celebrated not merely victories, but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and sportsmanship that lie at the heart of holistic student development.
