Women Cell of the School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), organised an activity on 12 August 2026 from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm in the form of skit on the topic “Gender Sensitisation- Awareness, Equity and Women Empowerment”. The main objective of the activity to create awareness among students about gender equality, equity, mutual respect, and women empowerment, while encouraging them to recognize and challenge gender-based stereotypes, discrimination, and biases. The activity aims to promote an inclusive and supportive environment where every individual is treated with dignity, equal opportunities, and respect, irrespective of gender.
Coordinator of the Women’s Cell, Dr. Shikha Thakur, Assistant Professor at SALS, welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and participants. The event began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries.
The Director, School of Applied and Life Sciences, Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, addressed the gathering and elaborated on the objectives of the event. He emphasized the significance of gender equality, rights awareness, self-confidence, and empowerment, motivating students to understand their entitlements, oppose discrimination, and express themselves with courage, confidence, and dignity.
The event on Gender Sensitization focused on creating awareness about gender equality, equity, respect, empathy, inclusion, and women empowerment. The programme featured a thought-provoking skit that highlighted common gender stereotypes, social biases, discrimination, and inequalities encountered in everyday life. The performance encouraged students to question stereotypes, challenge discriminatory practices, and promote mutual respect and inclusivity.
This was followed by a video presentation emphasizing the importance of gender equality and sensitizing students towards their attitudes, responsibilities, and role in building a more equitable, respectful, and inclusive society. The event provided an engaging platform for students to reflect on gender-related issues and encouraged them to become active advocates for equality and empowerment.
