Indian Military Academy (IMA), established in 1932, is the institution of the highest repute in the nation that has a long and proud history of producing highly decorated armed forces personnel with exemplary courage and highest order of integrity and patriotism of the defense forces of India. Every Gentleman Cadet passes out with all the qualities and skills inculcated into him and it is the sheer excellence of the training provided at the academy that makes Indian Army one of the best in the world.
Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University, has always strived to provide the motivation and inspiration to its students to achieve success in every walk of life and what could be better than a visit to IMA, Dehradun. August 22nd, 2026 was a very special day in the college for the students of first year from all the four branches of CSE, CE, ME & AE as they got a once in lifetime opportunity to visit IMA on an educational tour. Director, UIT Prof. (Dr.) Sumit Chaudhary waved the buses for IMA visit at 9:30 am.
There was a total of 113 students who boarded the buses from the campus of the university accompanied by the Head, B. Tech first year Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Shah and members of faculty namely Dr. Narender Kumar. Dr Gurav Negi, Mr. Vinod Balmiki, Ms. Nilima Singh and Prof. (Dr)Pinki Chugh.
The group from the college was received warmly there by Major Himanshu Goyal who was kind enough to be the guide for the students. The students were first taken to the museum in the Chetwood Hall where they saw many war relics and weapons. Next they were guided to Khetarpal Block. The students also visited the war memorial there and they were told that the data of all the martyrs of the nation is duly preserved and updated regularly there. The students also got to know about the battalions stationed there currently and then came the delightful moment for them when they saw the horses which are used for the training of the cadets.
The students were provided invaluable knowledge along with some precious career counseling at the academy. Finally, the students gathered at Major Vikram Batra mess for some refreshment.
It was a truly unforgettable experience for everyone on this educational tour and the students were overwhelmed with everything they got to see, learn, and understand there. They advanced their heartfelt thanks to the entire team of faculty members, Head, B.Tech first year Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Shah and the Director, UIT Prof. (Dr.) Sumit Chaudhary for the deep interest and continuous efforts towards the overall progress and development of the students.
