An unprecedented buzz of activity was witnessed at the Uttaranchal University campus starting as early as 5:00 AM on 22nd August, 2026. Patriotic songs, groups of runners, and students making reels and taking selfies created an exhilarating atmosphere in the early morning hours. The occasion marked the commencement of Uttaranchal University's Silver Jubilee year. To celebrate this milestone, the university organized the 'Uttaranchal Silver Jubilee Run 2026'. The state's Higher Education Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, attended the inaugural session of the marathon whereas vice president of other backward class council Mr. Ashok Verma was present as chief guest during valedictory session.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna highlighted the institution's journey since 2002, when its founding institute, Law College Dehradun, was established as the state’s first independent law college.
University President Mr. Jitender Joshi awarded cash prizes totalling ₹56,000 to the winners, emphasizing that the run symbolized the university’s commitment to youth empowerment and a drug-free 'Devbhoomi'. He pledged to continue building an inspiring environment for nationwide youth.
Inaugurating the event, Chief Guest Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Higher Education Minister of Uttarakhand, commended the initiative as an exemplary use of youth energy aligned with national and state 'Drug-Free' missions.
During the valedictory session, Chief Guest Shri Ashok Verma, Vice President of the OBC Council, praised the university's academic and research standing alongside premier institutions, encouraging 'Gen Z' to channel their potential positively before distributing awards to the winners.
Vice President of the University Ms. Ankita Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi, Executive Director Dr. Abhishek Joshi along with all Deans, Directors, Principals, Heads and Faculty Members graced the occasion with their benign presence.
