The Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme on 03rd August 2026. The programme aimed to sensitize newly admitted students to the harmful consequences of ragging and to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
A sensitization lecture was conducted for the B. Pharm 1st-year students, focusing on the university’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Students were briefed on different forms of ragging, including physical, verbal, psychological, and online harassment, as well as their potential academic, disciplinary, and legal consequences. The students were also informed about the Anti-Ragging Committee, grievance redressal mechanism, and appropriate channels for reporting incidents. To make the awareness campaign more engaging and impactful, a street play (Nukkad Natak) was performed by the students of B. Pharm second year. The programme encouraged students to speak against ragging, support their peers, and report any inappropriate behaviour to the concerned authorities. The activity concluded with the strong message “Say No to Ragging”, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to maintaining a ragging-free campus.
Overall, the programme successfully created awareness among students regarding anti-ragging policies and encouraged them to contribute towards a safe, supportive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shalu Verma and Ms. Yogita Ale, Assistant Professors, UIPS, Uttaranchal University.
