The Anti-Drug Cell of Uttaranchal University convened a meeting on 21 July 2026 under the chairmanship of Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Chairperson/Nodal Officer, Anti-Drug Cell, to review and strengthen the University's initiatives towards a tobacco-free and drug-free campus.
Anti-Drug Cell of the university unanimously resolved to implement the Guidelines for Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The Committee also reaffirmed its commitment to the "नशामुक्त देवà¤ूमि" (Drug-Free Devbhoomi) campaign of the Government of Uttarakhand and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) through awareness, prevention, and student engagement activities.
To strengthen implementation, it was decided that every School/Department will constitute a Departmental Anti-Drug Committee and appoint an Anti-Drug Coordinator. The Core Committee of the Anti-Drug Cell will conduct surprise inspections of hostels and academic departments during the upcoming academic session to ensure compliance with university policies.
The Committee further resolved that every School/Hostel Incharge shall organize at least one Anti-Drug Awareness Programme in each semester, reinforcing Uttaranchal University's commitment to creating a safe, healthy, tobacco-free, and drug-free learning environment.
