The School of Agriculture organized an educational visit for the B.Sc. Agriculture students to Sanjivani Valley Farm, Dobhri, Rudrapur, Dehradun, on 7th April 2026. The visit was planned to provide students with practical exposure to high-value horticulture and sustainable farming systems.
Sanjivani Valley Farm is a Hi-Tech model farm where high-value crops are grown along with other farming activities. Dairy farming and beekeeping are also an important component of the farm , which helps students understand how integrated farming practices prove to be beneficial for increasing the per capita income of farmers.
During the visit, students explored the cultivation and management of various fruit crops, including mango, strawberry, litchi, dragon fruit, apple, papaya, guava, and kiwi. They learned different orchard management practices such as planting techniques, training and pruning, irrigation methods, and nutrient management. Particular attention was given to high-value crops like kiwi and premium mango varieties such as Miyazaki, Red Palmer, and American Sensation. Students gained insights into trellising systems, pollination methods, and the specific climatic conditions required for their successful cultivation.
The visit also highlighted the use of modern agricultural practices such as drip irrigation, organic inputs, and eco-friendly pest management approaches.
The visit was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Rajat Singh and Dr. Aashu Rajput, who accompanied the students and provided valuable insights throughout the visit. The students expressed their sincere gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Sharad Pandey, Director, SOA, for his continuous support and encouragement in facilitating such practical learning experiences.
