Law College Dehradun organized the Intramural Client Counselling Competition as part of TRI-LEGAL 4.0: The Law Fest, 2026, from 1 to 6 April 2026, under the aegis of the Moot Court Society. The competition aimed to simulate real-world lawyer–client interactions, enabling students to develop essential skills in legal counseling, communication, and professional ethics.
The event focused on enhancing participants’ ability to engage with clients, identify legal issues, and offer structured, practical advice. Unlike adversarial formats, it emphasized a solution-oriented approach, requiring participants to demonstrate empathy, active listening, and clarity in explaining legal positions—skills crucial for effective legal practice.
The competition was conducted across multiple rounds, each testing versatility in different areas of law. The Preliminary Rounds were based on Contract Law and Company Law, addressing commercial disputes and advisory issues. The Quarter-Final Round focused on Family Law, assessing sensitivity in handling personal matters. The Semi-Final Round involved provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, testing criminal law application. The Final Round presented a complex problem involving the Negotiable Instruments Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), requiring integration of multiple legal domains. The Final Round showcased exceptional composure, structured reasoning, and effective client-handling before an esteemed panel of judges.
The event concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony moderated by Ms. Tanishtha Bahuguna, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dr. Radhey Shyam Jha, Dr. Aishwarya Singh, and Mr. Rajat Gaur, who highlighted the importance of practical legal training and ethical responsibility.
