UIPS Organizes Awareness Session on Women as Change Makers for a Sustainable Future

A special awareness session on ‘Women as change maker: shaping a sustainable and inclusive future ‘was successfully organized by the Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun in celebration of International Women's Day on 9th March 2026. The event aimed to highlight the significant role women play in bringing social transformation, promoting equality, and contributing to sustainable development in different sectors. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Yogita Tyagi, Head of Department, Mrs. Srishti Morris and other esteemed faculty members, and enthusiastic students.  


The highlight of the event was the keynote address by our honoured guest speaker, Dr. Satwinder Kaur Malhotra, Deputy Medical Superintendent, UMCAR and Emergency Medical Officer, Uttaranchal Hospital and Diagnostic Centre. 


The program began with a warm welcome of the guest speaker by the organizing committee and faculty members. In her lecture, Dr. Satwinder Malhotra emphasized that women are powerful agents of change who play a crucial role in shaping societies, economies, and communities. She discussed how empowering women through education, leadership opportunities, and equal rights can lead to a more sustainable and inclusive future. She also shared inspiring examples of women leaders who have made remarkable contributions in fields such as education, healthcare, science, business, and social welfare. The speaker highlighted the importance of gender equality and encouraged students to challenge stereotypes and support women’s participation in decision-making processes.  


The lecture was highly interactive, and students actively participated in the discussion by asking questions related to women empowerment, career development, and social challenges faced by women. Dr. Satwinder Malhotra addressed their queries thoughtfully and encouraged them to work towards creating a more equitable society. 


The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the organizing committee, expressing gratitude to the guest speaker for sharing her valuable knowledge and inspiring thoughts. The lecture proved to be informative and motivating for all participants and reinforced the importance of women’s contributions in shaping a sustainable and inclusive future. 


 The students expressed their appreciation to Honourable Chancellor Shri. Jitendra Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dharam Buddhi, and Director of UIPS, Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, for making the organization of the visit possible.
