Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun celebrated International Women’s Day on 9th March 2026 with enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Midhu Kurian, Principal, Uttaranchal College of Nursing. The celebration aimed to promote awareness regarding women’s empowerment, gender equality, and the vital contributions of women in society and healthcare.
On this occasion, two competitions were organized for students: a Quiz Competition and a Poster Competition. The theme of the quiz was “Women Empowerment: Reality or a Distant Goal.” The activity encouraged students to critically reflect on the present status of women’s empowerment and the challenges that still exist. The Poster Competition was conducted on the theme “Rights, Action, Justice,” where students creatively portrayed ideas related to women’s rights, equality, and justice.
The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation and creative presentations from students. In the Poster Competition, Priyani (B.Sc. Nursing 2nd Semester) secured 1st position, Alfisa Parveen (2nd Semester) secured 2nd position, and Ansh Negi (2nd Semester) secured 3rd position. In the Quiz Competition, Sanskriti (B.Sc. Nursing 2nd Semester) and Kabir (6th Semester) were declared winners, while Tanvi (2nd Semester) and Ayush (2nd Semester) were the runners-up.
The event successfully raised awareness among students about the importance of supporting women’s rights and working towards a more equal and just society. The program concluded with appreciation for all participants and organizers for making the event meaningful and impactful.
