ONAM was celebrated with great excitement at Uttaranchal Institute of Technology on 26th August, 2026.Onam is celebrated to commemorate the return of King Mahabali, an asur who is assumed to have ruled the three worlds. Though he belonged to the demon family, his virtues made him immortal. The festival of Onam is celebrated to highlight the virtues of sacrifice and humility that can make a demon so loved and cherished forever. The Uttaranchal Institute of Technology Cultural and Event Committee organized a vibrant Onam celebration, bringing together students and faculty to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Kerala with great enthusiasm and joy.
The celebrations of ‘Masti Onam’2k26’ started at 3:00 pm with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony by the chief guest Director UIT, Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary ,who congratulated all the students on this special occasion. The event had variety of exciting games for the students like Lemon and spoon, Drop and Grab Game, Bindi on Target and Tug of War. Students participated in the games enthusiastically and won various prizes. The event continued with a captivating series of cultural performances, where students showcased their talents through dance, singing, and traditional cultural presentations, beautifully portraying the vibrant traditions of Kerala.
The celebration concluded on a cheerful note, with students and faculty coming together in the true spirit of Onam. The enthusiastic participation of the students and the dedicated efforts of the Uttaranchal Institute of Technology Cultural and Event Committee made the occasion a memorable and joyous celebration. The event reflected the institute’s commitment to promoting cultural awareness, creativity, student participation, and a strong sense of community beyond the classroom.
