In an effort to bridge the gap between classroom theory and practical application, the Department of Civil Engineering from Uttaranchal Institute of Technology (UIT) conducted an industrial visit to the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) Water Treatment Plant at Dilaram Chowk on 27 August 2026.

Coordinated by Assistant Professors Mr. Girish Kumar and Dr. Samrity Jalota, the excursion provided third- and fifth-semester students a first-hand look at municipal water purification.

UJS Instructor Suresh Kumar led the delegation through the facility's critical infrastructure. The comprehensive guided tour covered the entire treatment lifecycle, beginning with the aeration fountain for oxygenation and progressing through the sedimentation and flocculation tanks, where chemical and gravity-based processes remove impurities. Students also inspected the plant's rapid sand filtration system and the final distribution units, including the post-disinfection overhead supply tank.

The interactive session highlighted the practical complexities of environmental and civil engineering. Faculty coordinators noted that the immersive experience successfully reinforced the students' understanding of sustainable water management, marking a vital step in their professional training.
