The Anti-Drug Squad Committee and Biogenerika Club, School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), Uttaranchal University, jointly organized an impactful Anti-Drug Awareness Programme to sensitize students about the harmful consequences of substance abuse and encourage them to adopt a healthy, responsible, and drug-free lifestyle. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Nishesh Sharma, HOD and Member Secretary, Biogenerika Club, with the active involvement of Dr. Maneesha Pandey, Dr. Navendra Uniyal, and Dr. Rahul Gaur, who were associated with the programme as resource persons. The event aimed to spread awareness about the physical, psychological, social, and academic consequences of drug abuse while empowering students to make informed choices and resist negative peer pressure.
A major highlight of the programme was the short skit presented by students, which effectively portrayed the journey of a young individual facing peer pressure, experimentation, addiction, and its devastating consequences on personal life. The performance concluded with a powerful message emphasizing that timely support, determination, and appropriate guidance can help individuals overcome addiction and rebuild their lives. The programme also featured a Poster Competition based on the theme “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.” Students creatively expressed their perspectives on drug abuse, prevention, and the importance of choosing a healthy future. Their artistic presentations conveyed strong messages of awareness, hope, and social responsibility. Another engaging activity was the Pledge Wall, which encouraged students to make a personal commitment towards a drug-free life.
The programme successfully integrated education, creativity, and student participation to create a meaningful awareness experience. Through such initiatives, the Anti-Drug Squad Committee and Biogenerika Club reaffirm the commitment of the SALS, Uttaranchal University, towards promoting student well-being, social responsibility, and the vision of a drug-free campus.
