National Science Day was celebrated at the School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), Uttaranchal University (UU), on 27th and 28th February 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation by conducting various scientific activities such as scientific model presentations, science fashion parade, quiz competition, and more.
The event was inaugurated with lamp lighting by President Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice President Ms. Ankita Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, and Director & Dean-Research Prof. Ajay Singh.
The programme began with a welcome address by Director & Dean-Research Prof. Ajay Singh, who highlighted the significance of organizing such events to provide a vibrant platform for students to showcase their creativity and innovation. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi appreciated the sincere efforts of the participants and the organizing committee and emphasized the importance of exploring scientific innovations to address pressing societal and environmental issues. President Shri Jitender Joshi and Vice President Ms. Ankita Joshi interacted with the participants and encouraged them to further develop and explore their innovative ideas.
The celebration comprised several competitive events, and students were awarded in different categories:
Scientific Fashion Parade – Students creatively presented scientific themes and environmental concepts through innovative costumes, blending science with art and awareness. Ishita, Naman, Vrinda, Sania, and Divyanshi were among the winners.
Nutrition Food Stalls – Participants showcased healthy, balanced, and innovative food items, highlighting the importance of nutrition and sustainable dietary practices. The creative food stalls of Suzzane, Rohit, Tamanna, and Nikita were highly appreciated.
Scientific Model Presentation – Students demonstrated functional scientific models addressing real-life problems and explained their concepts, methodology, and practical applications. The models presented by Vedika Pal, Dhruvita, Kashish, Devansh, Shiuli, and other students were appreciated.
Quiz Competition – A science-based quiz featuring multiple interactive rounds was conducted to enhance students’ knowledge, analytical skills, and the spirit of healthy competition. Mayank (B.Sc. CBZ, 4th Semester) emerged as the winner.
On this occasion, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Prof. V. K. Srivastava, Prof. Nishesh Sharma, Dr. Shivam Pandey, Mr. Yogesh Awasthi, Dr. Shefalee Singh, Dr. Shipra Shah, Dr. Ridhima Singh, Dr. Vikas Kumar, Ms. Aditi Uniyal, Ms. Shivangi Baghel, Ms. Muskan Gupta, Mr. Rahul Gaur, Mr. Hitesh Malhotra, Mr. Jagmohan Awasthi, and other faculty members, along with 250 students, were present.
