Law College Dehradun extended a grand welcome to Roshan Kumar Pathak, a former student, on 2 March 2026, who became a judge after securing the 16th rank in the Chhattisgarh Judicial Service examination. University President Shri. Jitender Joshi welcomed Roshan with a bouquet of flowers and presented him with a memento. He said that Roshan has brought glory not only to himself and his family but also to Uttaranchal University with his achievement. He advised the students to emulate his example. 


University Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna stated that students from 15 states across the country have become judges after graduating from the Law College Dehradun. Uttarakhand has the highest number where 16 students achieved this position. He stated that the requirement of three years of compulsory practice has discouraged students, especially girls. 


In his address, Roshan Pathak briefed t the ins and outs of the Judicial Services Examination, stating that it is most beneficial to study the Bare Acts for the prelims, books for the mains, and general knowledge along with law for the interview. He credited the Law College teaching methodology, library culture, and the moot court and debate environment as key contributors to his success. He stated that participants who regularly attend classes do not require coaching. However, he advised participants to take a test series for the mains. He considered patience the biggest challenge for success in the judicial service. He noted that while vacancies in the judicial service are very limited, the requirement of three years of court practice and the lengthy selection process require examinations at every stage. 


Hundreds of students and teachers from the Competition Cell of college participated in the program.
