Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences successfully organized a Disaster Preparedness Workshop on November 26, 2025, for healthcare students under the theme “Uttarakhand on Alert: Youth for Disaster Resilience.” The initiative aimed to inculcate awareness and preparedness among students to respond effectively to disasters, particularly in vulnerable regions like Uttarakhand. The program began with a warm welcome address by the Director, UCHS. The keynote speaker was Dr. Reema Pant, Professor at Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST), a distinguished educationalist and committed environmentalist renowned for her dedicated work toward the conservation and resilience of Uttarakhand. Her insightful presentation highlighted environmental responsibility and disaster mitigation strategies. She also emphasized the importance of proactive community engagement.
To ensure practical learning, the workshop included hands-on sessions that enabled students to understand disaster scenarios and appropriate response techniques. Interactive assignments and group activities encouraged teamwork, discussion, and the exchange of ideas, providing students an opportunity to voice their perspectives on disaster preparedness and sustainable development. The session integrated theoretical insights with a practical, skill-based learning approach, encouraging active student participation.
Overall, the workshop proved to be a valuable learning experience, motivating students to contribute toward safeguarding the state and supporting disaster resilience initiatives. The event concluded with the patriotic rendition of “Vande Mataram,” marking the observance of Constitution Day and reinforcing the spirit of service and national unity.
