The School of Agriculture at Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, celebrated Agricultural Education Day on 3rd December 2025 with enthusiastic participation from students. The event, organised by the Women Cell of the School of Agriculture, featured a debate competition and a poster-making competition.
The event began with words of motivation from Prof. (Dr.) Sharad Pandey, Director, School of Agriculture. He emphasized the purpose of observing Agricultural Education Day and shared success stories of women in agriculture. His message encouraged students to participate with confidence.
The debate was conducted on the theme “Should Girls Pursue Agriculture as a Career?”. Students speaking for the motion highlighted increasing opportunities for women, successful examples from the field, and the importance of women’s involvement in agricultural development. Those against the motion focused on challenges faced by women and the need for stronger support systems. Both sides presented clear viewpoints, making the session engaging.
The theme for the poster-making competition was women in agriculture. The posters reflected awareness, creativity, and appreciation for women’s expanding role in the sector.
Winners of the debate and poster-making competitions were announced, and attractive prizes were distributed for their performances.
The programme was also graced by Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad, HoD, School of Agriculture, who congratulated the winners and extended his best wishes to all participants. He was accompanied by faculty members, with a large number of students present throughout the event.
