Law College Dehradun organized the National Article Writing Competition 6, under the aegis of Vasundhara – The Green Society, in online mode on 18 November 2025. Held in the 75th year of the Indian Constitution, the competition invited law students from across India to write on the theme “Constitutionality of Disaster Liability in the Indian Context.”

The sixth edition of the competition has evolved into the flagship event of Vasundhara, serving as a premier platform for critical discourse on environmental and constitutional law. The 2025 edition focused on the constitutional dimensions of disaster liability, climate change, rapid urbanization, etc., highlighting the need for rights-based disaster governance.

Participants were encouraged to examine constitutional provisions, humanitarian and socioeconomic consequences, and existing institutional frameworks for disaster risk reduction. Law students from leading institutions such as Panjab University, Symbiosis Law School Pune, National Law University Tripura, and Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, among others, submitted entries. Submissions addressed diverse themes, including the ‘constitutional ecology of catastrophe,’ ‘the Supreme Court’s expanding jurisprudence under Article 21,’ interpreting the right to life to include safety, dignity, and protection from disasters.

The evaluation process was conducted by a panel of experts led by Prof. (Dr.) Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, Chairperson, Vasundhara – The Green Society, along with Dr. Ajay R., expert in Urban Planning, Risk and Resilience. Five outstanding articles were shortlisted for possible publication in peer-reviewed legal journals, and three winners were selected for their comprehensive analysis and innovative treatment of disaster liability within India’s constitutional framework.

The results were as follows: First Prize – Ms. Sakshi Tyagi, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (₹2,500 + E-Certificate); Second Prize – Ms. Garima, Panjab University (₹1,500 + E-Certificate). All participants received E-Certificates of Participation, acknowledging their meaningful engagement.
