The Department of Food Technology, School of Applied & Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University organised the National Nutrition Month, 2025 from 19th to 26th September. It aims to raise awareness about the importance of food choices, developing healthy eating and physical activity habits. In India, the National Nutrition Month is held from 1st to 7th September annually. The theme for National Nutrition Month, 2025 is “Eat Right for a Better Life”.
The programme was inaugurated on 19th September by the honourable delegates and dignitaries of Uttaranchal University – Miss Ankita Joshi, Vice President, Prof. (Dr.) Abhishek Joshi, Executive Director Student Affairs & IT Services, Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Singh, Director DRI along with Director of SALS, Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh and the faculty members of the Department of Food Technology, SALS who had actively supported the programme.
The 1st day of the programme highlight was the food stalls (Nutri Zone), which were participated in actively by the students. The goal of these stalls was to educate and engage students about healthy, affordable, and locally available foods. The highlights of the stalls were –
Millet Corner – Highlight millets like ragi, bajra, jowar with sample dishes.
Iron & Calcium Boosting Foods – Show low-cost iron-rich foods like jaggery, dates, drumstick leaves.
Easy to cook healthy recipes- Promotes healthier choice with convenience in the time.
