On 19th September 2025, the Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, organized an enriching educational visit to the Forensic Laboratory at Prem Nagar, Dehradun. The visit aimed to provide practical exposure to nursing students on the applications of forensic science in healthcare and medico-legal contexts.
A group of 40 nursing students, accompanied by faculty members, actively participated in this academic initiative. The experts at the Forensic Lab explained various procedures such as evidence collection, fingerprint analysis, toxicology studies, and the role of forensic reports in legal proceedings. Students were also given an opportunity to observe the modern techniques and instruments used in forensic investigations.
The session proved highly beneficial as it bridged the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. Students gained deeper insights into the importance of forensic science in criminal investigations, healthcare, and medico-legal case management, which are crucial areas in nursing practice.
The faculty members expressed that such visits not only enhance academic knowledge but also instill professional confidence among students. Participants shared that the exposure was insightful and would be valuable in their future nursing careers.
The educational visit concluded successfully, leaving the students motivated and better informed about the interdisciplinary connection between nursing and forensic science.
