As part of the Deeksharambh 2025 programme, the School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, organised an educational visit to the prestigious Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun, on 19 August 2025. The visit was planned to provide first-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture students with valuable exposure to forestry research and its close connection with agriculture.

Under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Sharad Pandey, Director of the School of Agriculture, the students visited the Forest Research Institute (FRI) and explored its heritage and academic contributions. They observed major divisions such as wood science, non-wood forest products, forest pathology, and environmental conservation. The museum galleries, research models, and scientific exhibits offered valuable practical exposure to complement their classroom learning. Emphasis on biodiversity, climate studies, and sustainable practices encouraged students to reflect on eco-friendly agricultural approaches.

The visit also provided an opportunity to appreciate the premier institute’s research environment, infrastructure, and historical significance. Active interactions with faculty members enriched their understanding and inspired them to pursue research-oriented learning while recognising the close link between agriculture and forestry.

The educational visit proved to be enriching and inspiring for the students. They conveyed their gratitude to the university management for organising such a meaningful academic activity. Faculty members Dr Mohsin Ikraam, Dr Sandeep Kumar, Ms Diksha Nautiyal, and Dr Rachna Juyal accompanied the students throughout the visit and guided them during their learning experience.
