Two-day workshop on ‘Cyber Security’, in association with Mile 2

Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences, Uttaranchal University, organized a two-day workshop on “Cyber Security” in association with Mile 2 from 8th to 9th April 2025 for BCA (Cyber Security) specialization students. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about common cyber threats and best practices such as strong passwords, safe browsing, and regular updates, encouraging proactive protection of digital assets against emerging risks. The workshop experts were Mr. Vikram Srivastava and Mr. Vedang Sandhansive from Mile 2. 

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University; Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma, Director-USCS; Dr. Sameer Dev Sharma, HoD-USCS.  

 

Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma encouraged each participant to actively engage in workshop, emphasizing that cyber threats are evolving rapidly and it is our responsibility to stay ahead by fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness and preparedness. 

 

Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi highlighted that cybersecurity is a pressing concern for all, as evolving cyber threats challenge our ability to protect data, digital assets, and national security in today's fast-paced technological world. 

 

This workshop was a step toward understanding the complexities of cybersecurity and equipping ourselves with the knowledge and tools necessary to counter cyber risks effectively. More than 80 students from various universities, along with participants from Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS) and other departments of Uttaranchal University, actively took part in the workshop. A Capture The Flag (CTF) competition was conducted after the workshop, allowing participants to apply their cybersecurity knowledge through hands-on problem-solving and real-world challenges. 

 

The workshop was guided by Dr. Sameer Dev Sharma, HoD-USCS, with the support of Mr. Sanjay Mishra, Mr. Nitin Sharma, Ms. Manisha Saini, Ms. Manisha Khanduja, Mr. Vipul Kashyap, and student volunteers.
