Law College Dehradun organizes a Boot Camp on Policy Making

Law College Dehradun, Faculty of Uttaranchal University, organized a Boot Camp on policy making on 8 April 2025 in collaboration with Uttarakhand State Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPPGG) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Dr. Pradeep Mehta, Uttarakhand Head of UNDP, was present as the chief guest. Nearly 100 students from Law College Dehradun received training on policy making from subject experts representing the Planning Department of Uttarakhand Government, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and The Dias Institute. 

In his inaugural address, Dr. Mehta outlined the role of youth and civil society in the direction of sustainable development. He explained the contributions of the United Nations Development Program to global progress and its support to various ministries in implementing schemes. Dr. Mehta also praised Uttaranchal University's commitment to the fourth Sustainable Development Goalquality education – and recognized the university as a state leader in this field. 

Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice Chancellor, stated that the boot camp is a significant initiative to promote citizen participation and prepare future policy makers, demonstrating Law College Dehradun’s academic responsibility, social commitment, and dedication to the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. 

Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi emphasized that youth should be seen not only as future leaders but also as agents of change in the present, urging them to actively participate in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. 

The programme was coordinated by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Rawat and Dr. Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri.
