Uttaranchal University, in collaboration with DELNET (Developing Library Network), New Delhi, successfully organized a one-day Regional Workshop on “Transforming and Empowering Libraries, LIS Professionals, and Users: Emerging Trends. The event brought together around 100 participants, including library professionals, faculty members, research scholars, and students from various institutions across Uttarakhand and nearby regions. 

The workshop was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, who also delivered the inaugural address. In his remarks, he emphasized the pivotal role of libraries in the evolving academic landscape and highlighted the need to adopt technological innovations and best practices to serve the user community more effectively. 

 

Dr. Sangeeta Kaul, Director of DELNET, shared insights on DELNET’s mission of networking over 9,000 institutions across India and providing access to rich digital content. She introduced the concept of the “Five Cs” of library networking—Content, Cost, Clients, Communication, and Connectivity—as the foundation for building sustainable, user-centric library services.

  • Communication Skills for Library ProfessionalsMs. Malika Payal, Assistant Professor, School of Liberal Arts, UU 

 

The sessions were well-received and sparked dynamic interactions between speakers and attendees. 

 

The valedictory session was marked by positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the practical learning, hands-on exposure, and insightful discussions. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all delegates, guests, and organizing members. 

 

The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Ramveer Tanwar, University Librarian and Workshop Convener, with strong support from organizing team members Mr. Arun Singh Thakur, Mr. Muktendra Rawat, Dr. Deepshikha Srivastava, and the entire library staff.
