The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Uttaranchal University, organized an industrial visit on 11 April 2025 to the Central Institute of Petrochemical Engineering & Technology (CIPET) - Centre for Skilling and Technical Support (CSTS) in Doiwala, Dehradun. CIPET is a premier Govt. of India Autonomous Institution for Higher & Technical Education in Polymer Science & Engineering. The CIPET: CSTS – Dehradun is one of the 23 centers that create a technically qualified workforce to meet the requirements of industries at various levels and promote entrepreneurship. It also provides the necessary Technical Support Services (TSS) to Plastics and its Allied Industries of the State.
This visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into the world of plastics engineering and technology and to familiarize them with the advanced facilities and research activities at CIPET CSTS.
Throughout the visit, Students were guided through the laboratories equipped with cutting-edge plastic components manufacturing machinery and equipment for testing, analysis, and research related to plastics processing, material testing, tooling, and product design. The hands-on experience allowed students to understand the practical aspects of their theoretical knowledge. Students also learned about EDM operation, Automation, Assembly, Testing Lab, and CNC machines. The students took a keen interest in understanding plastic processing and related processes.
The industrial visit to CIPET CSTS, Doiwala, Dehradun, was an enriching experience for all participants.
Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary, Director- UIT (Uttaranchal Institute of Technology) appreciated the members of the faculty for executing the visit and emphasized that such Industrial visit should be encouraged which gives exposure to the latest technologies used by the industry.
The visit was held under the supervision of HOD Mechanical Engineering, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Joshi. The students were accompanied by faculty members of Mechanical Engineering Department, Mr Kshitij Pandey, Assistant Professor- ME and Mr Saurabh Aggarwal, Assistant Professor- ME.
