Survey Skills Development Camp

The Department of Civil Engineering at Uttaranchal Institute of Technology (UIT) organized a Survey Skills Development Camp from 21 February to 25 February 2025, at Ghatoo Ghat, Rishikesh. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, the scenic yet challenging terrain provided students with an immersive and enriching learning experience. 

The students engaged in reconnaissance, triangulation, plane tabling, contouring, astronomical observations, and total station operations under the guidance of Mr Ashish Pathani, Assistant Professor and Mr Arvind Singh Negi, Lab Instructor. Observing stars and planetary movements added an exciting dimension to their learning. The hilly landscape made surveying both challenging and thrilling, pushing students to apply their knowledge in real-world conditions. 

Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary, Director, UIT, motivated students to make the most of this hands-on experience, while Mr Gaurav Thakur, Head, Civil Engineering Department, emphasized the importance of field skills in professional growth. 

Beyond technical training, the camp fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability, making learning both educational and enjoyable. The camp concluded on 25 February 25 leaving students enriched with skills, memories, and a deeper appreciation for surveying in diverse terrains.
