An industrial visit to India Glycols Limited, Selaqui, Dehradun was organized on 25 September 2026 for the students of B.Sc. Microbiology (1st, 3rd and 5th Semesters) under the guidance of Dr. Monika Singh and Mr. Ravindra. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to industrial operations and help them understand the application of microbiological concepts in a real-world industrial environment.
The visit commenced with an introductory session conducted by company representatives Mr. Vimal Kumar and Ms. Rimjhim, who briefed the students about the organization, its major activities, and the role of biotechnology and microbiology in industrial production. The students subsequently visited various sections of the facility and observed industrial operations, process control systems, quality management practices, laboratory procedures, and safety protocols.
The students gained valuable insights into the application of microbial growth, fermentation processes, contamination control, sterilization, quality testing, and hygienic practices at an industrial scale. They also learned about the importance of maintaining controlled conditions, ensuring product quality, and adhering to workplace safety guidelines, and the proper use of personal protective equipment.
An interactive session allowed the students to engage with industry representatives and discuss industrial microbiology, laboratory practices, career opportunities, and essential skills for biotechnology professionals.
Overall, the visit was an informative and enriching learning experience, providing students with meaningful practical exposure and strengthening their understanding of the role of microbiology in industry. The visit successfully contributed to bridging the gap between classroom learning and industrial applications.
