Law College Dehradun Organized its 9th Inter-University Moot Court Competition

Law College Dehradun inaugurated its 9th Inter University Moot Court Competition organized from 21-23 February 2025. Judge of Delhi High Court Justice Shri Siddharth Mridul, , Member of High Court Lok Adalat Justice Rajesh Tandon, former Judge of Allahabad High Court Justice Mehboob Ali, Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record Ankur Yadav, Advocate and Founder of Independent Thought Dr Vikram Srivastava, Partner of Rab & Rab Associates Dr. Aman Rab, were the guests for the three-day event. 

The issues considered before the Constitutional Bench of five judges were - Validity of Bulldozer Justice, Provisions of Anti-Defection Law, Powers of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and Interpretation of illegal and terrorist activities. 

Prof Rajesh Bahuguna stated that celebrating the 75th year of the Constitution, a series of programs related to the theme ‘Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Swabhiman’ is being organized in the University this year. 23 courts were established for this competition while 32 teams have been invited for the oral round and a total of 51 dignitaries were invited as judges.  

Justice Mehboob Ali in his address said that moot court is an art in which proficiency paves the way for advocacy for the students. While teaching the tricks of courtship, he said that a successful advocate should be full of reasoning skills on one hand and on the other hand he should also have dedication towards the legal profession. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof Poonam Rawat.
