The Cultural and Event Committee of Uttaranchal Institute of Technology hosted a poignant event on "Partition Horrors Remembrance Day" on 14 August 2024 at the ground floor of the Uttaranchal Institute of Technology. This event was dedicated to honoring the memories and drawing lessons from the tragic events of the 1947 Partition of India, one of the most significant and sorrowful chapters in our nation's history.

Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary, Dean of UIT, Dr Sachin Chaudhary, Associate Professor, and Ms Sakshi Koli, faculty coordinator of UIT-CEC, served as the esteemed judges. The participation of students was commendable, with each poster vividly representing their understanding of the horrors of the partition. The posters featured powerful imagery, symbolism, and text that depicted the struggles of refugees, the chaos of displacement, and the lasting emotional scars left by the partition. The participants were given two hours to translate their imaginations onto the sheets.

During the event, Mr. Sukesh Kumar Bhagat presented an overview of the significance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, sharing his perspectives through a compelling presentation. The event was well-attended by faculty members, with Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary delivering an inspiring speech that offered deep insights into the partition's impact on Indian history.

E-certificates were awarded to the competition winners, with Joyraj Yumnam, a third-year student, taking the first prize, Vaibhav Bharti, a second-year student, securing the second prize, and Nandani Vats, also a second-year student, earning the third prize. This event demonstrated how art can be a powerful medium to express deep emotions and convey historical truths. The event was meticulously planned and executed by the dedicated members of UIT-CEC.
