“The Hindustan” daily in collaboration with Youth Parliament Society of Law College Dehradun conducted “Aao Rajneeti karein” an event on 1 April 2024. This Yuva Sansad was an open discussion with students about the importance of politics in the light of the upcoming elections 2024. Students and faculty of Law College Dehradun actively participated in the discussion. The event was moderated by Ms Anushka Singh, President, Youth Parliament Society who initiated the session by sharing her views on the importance of youth participation in the politics. She then invited Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor and Dean, LCD, to enlighten the students with his perspective on the right to vote and the value of each vote in a democratic setup. Mr Ankit Raj, a student member, expressed his views on strengthening the roots of politics in student life to become a good leader in future for a better India.
He also stated that more than half of the population are youth in India and the rate of unemployment in India is increasing day by day. Hence, we need more job opportunities and a visionary leader. Besides, students the chairperson of the society, Youth Parliament Society, Dr Bhawna Arora presented her views about the responsibilities of a leader towards its citizens. Thereafter, Mr Krishna Sharma, student member, proposed his point on the importance of politics in students’ life for the emergence of more empowering young leaders. Subsequently, Saumya Rawat, highlighted the expectations of teachers from the government regarding their wages, pension and training sessions and Amrit Raj Dubey, critically analysed the shortcomings of negative practices which is rampant in the field of politics and concluded the session by suggesting some of political reforms which shall be implemented for smooth governance of the nation.
