Law College Dehradun organised a Legal Awareness camp under the aegis of the Legal Aid Centre and Pro Bono Club, in collaboration with the Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, on February 10th, 2024, at Panchayat Bhawan Shivpuri, Gram panchayat, Hariyawala Klan, Vikash Khand- Sahaspur, Dehradun. The camp was held successfully in the presence of esteemed dignitaries including the Head, Law, Prof (Dr) Radheshyam Jha and Chairperson, Legal Aid Centre and Faculty-in-Charge, Pro Bono Club, Mr. Abhiranjan Dixit and Mr. Amit Chaudhary. The primary aim of the event was to educate the community on various legal issues and promote social responsibility.
The Pro Bono Club and Legal Aid Centre members showcased a compelling Nukkad Natak focussing on raising awareness on effects of drug and alcohol abuse. Through captivating performances, they highlighted the detrimental effects of substance abuse on individuals, families, and society. The Nukkad Natak served as an effective medium to engage the audience and disseminate crucial information on the importance of leading a drug and alcohol-free life.
The Vice President Nehal Ray, Secretary Pakhi Kansal, and volunteers Sneha Agrawal and Kanan Joshi actively engaged with community members to address their concerns. Issues such as the absence of Ayushman cards, incomplete ration cards, lack of pensions for elderly citizens, and inadequate access to electricity in some households were discussed. The presence of the local Pradhan, Rajni, added significance to the event, emphasizing the importance of legal awareness at the grassroot level.
The legal awareness camp organized by the Legal Aid Centre and Pro Bono Club, in collaboration with the Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, was a resounding success.
