The International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated annually on 11 October to recognize the rights of girls and the unique challenges they face around the world. On this significant day, Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences & Uttaranchal College of Nursing Under the aegis of Uttaranchal Hospital & Diagnostic Center organized a series of events. The primary objective of the celebration was to raise awareness about the issues faced by girls globally and to advocate for their rights, including access to education, healthcare, and protection from discrimination and violence. Around 250 students from both colleges participated in the celebration.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony. The opening address was followed by a speech delivered on the theme for 2023, by Mr Satheesh Kumar S, Dean UCN.
To inspire and uplift students, artistic performances, including speech, slogan writing, skit and poster presentation were incorporated into the celebration. These performances portrayed the talents of students and conveyed powerful messages about their resilience and strength. Students from both colleges enthusiastically participated, showcasing their talents in various competitions.
Towards the program's end, prizes were awarded to the winners by the dignitaries for their achievement. Overall, the celebration was a resounding success and served as an inspiration to continue efforts in advancing the rights and well-being of girls.
The students and faculty members thanked the guests, Dr Kartikey, Joint Registrar and Director UCHS and Dr Amit Bhatt, Director UHDC for their presence and guidance in organizing the event. A vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Monica Massy, marking the event’s conclusion.
