International day of the Girl Child was organized by Uttaranchal College of Nursing and Uttaranchal College of Health Science, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun under the aegis of Uttaranchal Hospital & Diagnostic Centre on 11th October 2023 from 9:30 a.m to 1.00 p.m. at seminar hall, UCN building. The chief guests were Dr. Dinesh Chauhan, ACMO, Dehradun, Dr. Shikha Thakur, Gynecologists, CHC, Premnagar, Mrs. Mamta Bahuguna, District coordinator, Mr. Bhuwan Bonal, Balaji NGO, Mr. Ajay Bisht, Hope NGO, along with them Dr. Sangeeta, Medical superintendent, UHDC, Dr. Amit Bhatt, Campus Director, UU, Dr. Kartikey Gaur, Joint Registrar, UU, Mr. Satheesh Kumar, Dean, UCN, Dr. Satwiner Kaur, faculties from UCN and UCHS. The welcome address delivered by Dr. Amit Bhatt, Campus Director followed by Dr. Dinesh Chauhan provided information regarding sex ratio achievement in last one year and awareness about female foeticides to the students how as a medical professional we eradicate this sex ratio myths among the population and Dr. Shikha Thakur also shared her valuable opinion about significance and contribution of girl child. Mr. Satheesh Kumar, Dean, addressed the importance of girl children for the existence of the world and role of society. Mrs. Mamta Bahuguna, District coordinator, recited the oath against foeticidal and provided knowledge about PCPNDTAct of Government for the determination of sex in prenatal. The students from B.Sc. Nursing and paramedical were presented in the event. On this occasion students actively participated in various activities such as poster making, slowritwriting,y writing, skit and speech competition. After that students performed skits skitsted to importance girl child and awards were distributed by the guests to the winners. The program winded up with votea voteotehanks by Ms.Aarti Rana, Assistant Professor, UCN.
