With an intend to bring together entrepreneurs, investors, industry experts, and other stakeholders, to discuss and exchange ideas, insights and best practices related to starting a business, Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM), Uttaranchal University, organised Conclave on “An Entrepreneurship Journey: A Conclave on Entrepreneurship and Start-Ups” on May 4th, 2023. This program was an endeavour to inspire, educate, and empower aspiring students who want to become entrepreneurs and add up to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Entrepreneurship Conclave was sponsored by Burgrill, SSM Sharda, Phoenix Club, Aryan Hostel and Singh Darbar.
The Conclave was organized in two sessions. The First session was the Entrepreneurial Talk on how to launch a start-up, ecosystem support and various government schemes available at various stages of businesses.
The renowned women entrepreneurs, Ms Anushree Dua, Founder of One Take Films accompanied by Ms Enakshi Dua ,Snehi Singh, Founder of Jivisa Wellness, Dr Hiresha Verma, Founder of Han Agro were the guest speakers.
On this occasion, Shri. Jitender Joshi, Hon’ble Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Mrs. Anuradha Joshi, Chairperson, Uttaranchal University ,Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro.VC & Dean, Law College Dehradun, Dr H.S Grewal,Dean,UIM ,Dr Tilottama Singh ,HoD UIM were also present.
At the outset, Ms. Manleenjot Kaur (Assistant Professor, UIM) addressed the gathering and welcomed the eminent keynote speakers of the day. She emphasized that Entrepreneurship is an essential driver of economic growth and job creation, as new businesses often bring new products, services, and jobs to the marketplace and thus entrepreneurs are the backbone of innovation and progress.
The MCs were Bharat Negi and Falguni Vishwas (BBA 6th Semester students). They called the dignitaries for the Lamp lightening. Everyone rose for the Kulgeet. Mr. Jitender Joshi, Hon’ble Chancellor Sir felicitated the speakers with the Sapling.
The students of UIM gave a dance and singing performance.
The entrepreneurial Talk session was moderated by Dr Tilottama Singh, HoD UIM. Dr. Tilottama asked the speakers related to the government policies, women entrepreneurial challenges and also how to overcome the hurdles. The Speakers imparted knowledge to the students and focused on various key points during the session which are as follows:
● Ms Anushree Dua, Founder of One Take Films shared her entrepreneurial journey by giving lot of examples which is important from one’s life point of view.
● She stressed on quality, persistence and never-give up attitude that is key for an entrepreneur
● Dr. Hiresha Verma, Founder of Han Agro shared with the audiences, the struggles that she faced in the Agro business and the strategy that was used to overcome them.
● The students also asked questions regarding their start-ups and what factors to consider while initiating the start-ups.
The second Session was on subtheme ‘Investors Firkin 1.0’ where students presented their business plans and models to panel of investors where students presented their business plans and models to panel of investors. The idea behind the conclave was providing direction and hope to budding entrepreneurs from various walks of life. The event served its purpose by enlightening students and making them brainstorm around the rapidly transforming entrepreneurship culture across the globe.
The session started at 2:30 P.M, 4th May 2023 at the seminar hall, UIM.
The guests present there were Mr Iqbal Singh, Founder of Galaxy Security Services, Mr Naresh Tiwari , Co-Founder of Banarasi Paan Cafe accompanied by Prince Goel, CA Akash Khanduja (Chair ‘TiE University). Dr H.S Grewal,Dean,UIM ,Dr Tilottama Singh ,HoD UIM and the faculties were also present.
The session was opened by Ms. Manleenjot Kaur(Assistant Professor, UIM). Further the MCs Mantresh and Mehak (BBA students) took over the proceedings.
Dr H.S Grewal, Dean, UIM felicitated the investors with the saplings.
11 groups of students presented their business ideas in front of the Investors. The investors gave their input on the business ideas that the ideas should be unique and should be scalable. The best idea nominated was Of Ms. Nikita Rawat (BBA 6th Semester student). The investors appreciated and told her to contact them for further support. Dr. Tilottama Singh (HOD, UIM) delivered the closing note for the investors.
At last vote of thanks to all the eminent resource persons, dignitaries, technical and supportive team, and participants was proposed by Ms. Manleenjot Kaur (Assistant Professor, UIM).
