The School of Agriculture (SOA) organized a workshop on 21st February 2023 for UG and PG students majoring in Agriculture. The primary objective of this workshop was to enhance the students' skills in the identification of plant pathogens and disease management. During the workshop, student participants were taken to the real agricultural fields in Kotra Santaur, a village adopted by Uttaranchal University. The students were provided with on site exposure while observing the plant pathogens in fields. Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Professor at SOA and the subject expert explained the students about the major diseases of Rabi crops. He also explained participants about the management of various diseases of field crops.
The practical exercises by participants during the workshop proved to be highly effective in the skill development of disease identification and their management for plants. The hands-on experience in real agricultural settings allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of plant pathology and disease control.
