Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University organized a legal awareness and sanitary pad drive at a government college पं. सुरेशानंद जोशी सरस्वती शिशु विद्या मंदिर इंटर कॉलेज सेलाकुई, देहरादन|, in collaboration with Pro Bono Club and Legal Aid center on 20 February 2023. The camp commenced in the presence of the Dean, Law College Dehradun, and Nodal Officer of Pro Bono Club, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna. HOD, Law College Dehradun and Presiding Officer of Pro Bono Club, Prof. Dr. Poonam Rawat, and Faculty in charge of Pro Bono club, Mr. Abhiranjan Dixit.
The session was hosted by Mr Sudeep Chandra, student head, core committee member of Pro Bono Club wherein the club members interacted with students of classes 7th-12th and explained the aims and objectives of Pro Bono Club, Ministry of Law and Justice, Govt. of India. The first session was taken by Mr. Utkarsh Mishra, core committee member, Pro Bono Club on the Constitution of India. After giving a brief information regarding the constitution, to make the session interactive he asked some questions from the students regarding the same. Next session was taken was taken by Mr Amrit Raj Dubey, core committee member, Pro Bono Club on child related laws and informed the students regarding the child helpline number to be used for any child related legal issues. The last session was taken by Ms. Kanan Joshi, core committee club, Pro Bono Club on Good touch, and Bad touch and explained the concept of stalking and what measures a person may take to prevent such problem. She also talked about the rights of senior citizens and the bad behavior of the youngsters towards senior citizens.
Thereafter the camp was concluded by Mr. Sudeep Chandra by providing the phone no. maintained under the Pro Bono Club, Law College Dehradun. As a token of gratitude, a copy of bareact was gifted to the principal of the school and one copy of bareact was provided for the library of the school. Furthermore, pamphlet of Pro Bono club was also distributed among the students and staff. Following this the sanitary pad drive was conducted for the girls from 8th to 12th class and the female teachers of the school. While distributing the sanitary pads, the members of the Pro Bono Club also discussed about the importance of menstrual hygiene.
