The Women Cell of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized a poetry competition on theme “Empower the girl child. Empower the nation” on 9 December 2022, on occasion of " Women Pakhwada" from 25 November to 10 December for creating awareness of discrimination against women at workplace.


Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri addressed the students about the need and importance of women empowerment. He emphasized that no one can empower the women, instead women need to gather their own strength to empower themselves. He underlined that men should actively support women in channelizing their capabilities. He skillfully highlighted the role of a mother as  a first teacher to their child which further can bring best of motivation and courage among them. He has also shed light on the current scenario where women actively have their strong existence in each and every field. At the end his words of wisdom were appreciated by students and faculty members.

 Dr. Archana Saxena, Associate Professor, UIM and Mr. Manish Ghalwan, Assistant Professor, UIM formed the esteemed jury of the competition.

The participants were judged on the basis of Pronunciation (40%), Delivery & Interpretation (40%), Memorization (20%). 18 students participated in the Poetry Competition.

The winners of the Poetry competition were:

  • Winner of the event: Chhavi Gupta , BBA –II Year
  • I Runner up: Shruti Garg, BBA –II Year
  • II Runner up: Astha Bisht, BBA- I Year


It was a successful event with the joint contribution of Ms. Sheela Bijlwan, Head, Women Cell, Dr Deepa Bisht, CA. Neha Grover, Ms Sakshi Sharma and Dr Abhilasha Chauhan under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM and Dr. Tilottama Singh , HOD, UIM.
