Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University
conducted a Legal Awareness camp in a government school called “राजकीय उच्चतर माध्यमिक विद्यालय कोटला” on 24th December
2022 under the aegis of the Pro Bono Club.
Prof. Dr. Poonam Rawat, Head of the Department, along with Faculty-in-charge of Pro Bono Club Mr. Abhiranjan Dixit
addressed the students of class 8th, 9th and 10th and educated the students about the Pro Bono Club scheme,
initiated by the Department of Justice,
Ministry of Law and
Justice, Government of India. Thereafter, the
bare act of Constitution of India was gifted to the principal of the
school, Mr. Gyanendra Kumar Rathi.
The session was hosted by Mr. Nehal Ray, core committee member of
Pro Bono Club where he explained the
Pro Bono Club and the initiative that is to be done under the functioning of the Club and shared the contact No. of
the club that can be used when legal assistance is required. The first session
was taken by Mr. Amrit Raj Dubey Core committee member of Pro Bono Club who explained the child rights with
special focus on child labor and also discussed the various government schemes available to assist the children’s
welfare and the existence of Article
21A in the constitution. Following
this Ms. Arya talked about the rights of the
pregnant women, the abortion
and testing of sex of a child and how there is a mentality that one should not have a girl child. Regarding the same many schemes as ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ were
explained. Ms. Kanan Joshi explained about the concept of good touch and bad touch along with the rights
of senior citizens in India. Mr. Neeraj Kumar Vats moderated the whole session
by giving a summary of the topics explained
in the session. At last, Mr. Utkarsh Mishra concluded the session by explaining the constitution including the fundamental rights, DPSPs, enactment, enforcement, and
importance of the Constitution of
India.
To give a successful completion to the camp, a diglot edition of constitution was distributed among the students.
