Law College Dehradun organises a Sanitary Napkin Donation Drive 3.0 under the aegis of the Rotaract Club in collaboration with UNICHARM, a Japanese MNC on December 24th, 2022, it was a significant initiative under the flagship event Menstrual Health Awareness Campaign #letstalkaboutit. The event took place at "राजकीय उच्चतर माध्यमिक विद्यालय कोटलासंतौर, देहरादून" in Pondha Village, with active participation from the students and female workers of the government school.
The Head of Department, Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Rawat, opened the event by emphasizing the Rotaract Club's commitment to initiating conversations about menstrual health, addressing period poverty, and promoting sustainable menstruation. This set the tone for the campaign, encouraging awareness and dialogue among the young students.
Ms. Saloni Sharma, an executive member of the Rotaract Club, provided a comprehensive introduction to the club, highlighting the significance of their campaign #letstalkaboutit and stressing the importance of menstrual health education. This aimed to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and encourage an open discussion. Ms. Pooja Rodhiya shared valuable insights with the young menstruators, focusing on precautions and hygiene practices during and after the menstrual period. This information aimed to empower the students with knowledge about proper menstrual health management.
The highlight of the Sanitary Napkin Donation Drive was the distribution of Sofy sanitary napkins among the students and female workers of the government school. This step not only provided essential menstrual hygiene products but also contributed to the larger goal of combating period poverty and promoting sustainable periods. The collaboration with UNICHARM added value to the initiative, showcasing the power of partnerships in addressing important societal issues.
